Alison provides:
Cello lessons
at all levels
Alison specialises in working with beginners from Key Stage 2, right through to advanced level by the time they reach Key Stage 3, sixth form and beyond.
Her lessons focus on building a strong foundation in cello playing, covering essential technique and performance skills as well as music theory. Pupils are encouraged to sit exams and take part in performances.
Music theory tuition
Alison integrates music theory into her lessons, enabling the pupil to understand the composition and structure behind the music being learnt. Grade 5 theory is a prerequisite before entering for the higher practical grade exams.
Instruments available (no charge!)
Alison owns a large collection of fractional size cellos (1/4, 1/2, 3/4) for young learners to use. You will probably only need to purchase your own instrument when you require a full-size cello. This gives you plenty of time to establish your skill and interest before making a big investment.
Over recent years, Alison has built up invaluable experience working with pupils from Key Stage 2 upwards - she finds this age group to be an ideal age to start learning to play a string instrument.

What Makes Cello Alison Unique?
Alison's extensive collection of quality student instruments means that as the pupil grows and as the level of skill progresses, Alison is able to provide a larger/upgraded instrument when it's required - just what's needed for keeping a developing youngster motivated. Each cello in the collection has been through the hands of a skilled luthier to ensure that the instrument is comfortable and enjoyable to play. Alison then likes to make sure the cellos have quality strings.
